COLDPLAY

      Coldplay are an English alternative rock band from London, formed in 1998. The group comprises Chris Martin (lead vocals, keyboards, guitar), Jonny Buckland (lead guitar), Guy Berryman (bass guitar), and Will Champion (drums, backing vocals, other instruments).
      What distinguishes Coldplay from other bands is that they have created melancholic music arrangements with the theme of well-trodden love, yet there is still an earnest optimism within, which most English bands do not make use of.

       Coldplay's early material was compared to acts such as Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, U2, and Travis. They achieved worldwide fame with the release of the single "Yellow", followed by their debut album, Parachutes (2000), which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The band's second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), won multiple awards, including NME's Album of the Year.
       Their next release, X&Y (2005), received a slightly less enthusiastic yet still generally positive reception. The band's fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), was produced by Brian Eno and released again to largely favourable reviews, earning several Grammy nominations and wins. Coldplay have sold over 50 million records worldwide.

 

       In Brazil, the single ''Viva la Vida'', one of the most famous tracks of the band, was on the soundtrack of the soap opera called ''A Favorita'', a huge success in the country. That's how they got famous in Brazil!

     Coldplay has, until now, five albums, there are called:

Parachutes (1999 - 2001)

   The first album has just one song that can be called as ''Greatest Hit'', the romantic ballad called ''Yellow''.

A Rush of Blood to the Head (2001–04)

  This album was a huge success. It has a lots of hits, that helped them a lot in terms of fame. These hits are: ''In My Place'', ''Clocks'' and ''The Scientist''.

X&Y (2004–06)

The third album was not very famous. It has just one hit, the ballad ''Fix You'' (my personal favorite song).

Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2006–09)

This album was their most famous one. It made Coldplay win a grammy of ''Best Song Of The Decade'' with ''Viva la Vida''.

Mylo Xyloto (2009–12) 

The last one made Coldplay even for famous! It has the hist ''Paradise'', ''Every Teardrop is a Waterfall'', ''Charlie Brown'' and, recorded with the popstar Rihanna, the hit ''Princess of China''.

I've chosen Coldplay as my fandom because their songs are so inspiring! They make me reflect and move me a lot! I really do believe that Coldplay is one of the best bands ever.
